The meeting of the India alliance is going on to decide the strategy to form the government

Leaders of the Congress-led India Alliance have met to discuss possible strategies for government formation following the results of India's Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting of the alliance leaders began on Wednesday (June 5) at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharg's residence in New Delhi.

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi also attended the meeting. Besides, Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav accompanied his uncle Ram Gopal Yadav to the residence of Kharg before the meeting to discuss the strategy of forming the central government.

Congress leader KC Venugopal, JMM MP and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Saren's wife Kalpana Saran, Revolutionary Socialist Party leader NK Premchandra also reached the venue. Workers were heard chanting slogans in support of party leader Rahul Gandhi outside Congress president Mallikarjun Kharg's residence in Delhi, according to a report by the country's news agency ANI. Ahead of the meeting, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Saren said, 'We will define our strategy as an alliance.'

The final result of India's 543-seat Lok Sabha was announced on Tuesday (June 4). Narendra Modi's political party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not get a single majority in this election. A majority of 272 seats is required to form the government in the country, but the BJP won 240 seats on its own.

As per Lok Sabha seat count, if everything goes well, NDA will form the government at the Centre. However, a day after the declaration of election results, the game of polarization is now playing out in Delhi. Both sides have become active in breaking and forming the government.
