The police have to hand over the looted arms and ammunition by Tuesday

Bangladesh Police Headquarters has ordered to submit the looted weapons and ammunition by tomorrow Tuesday (September 3). This has been informed in a notification on Monday (September 2).

Recently there have been incidents of looting of weapons and ammunition from various police stations, units and duty stations of Bangladesh Police. Some of the weapons and ammunition looted by the police have already been recovered. The operation to recover the remaining looted arms and ammunition is continuing.

If any person has such arms and ammunition, the police has requested them to submit it to the nearest police station by September 3. Otherwise, the police said to take legal action against them.

According to police headquarters sources, 3 thousand 880 different types of weapons, 2 lakh 86 thousand 353 bullets, 22 thousand 201 tear gas shells and 2 thousand 139 sound grenades have been recovered till Sunday.

The anti-discrimination student movement led to police clashes and casualties in various parts of the country. In the last three days (before and after Sheikh Hasina's government left power), police stations and outposts were attacked, vandalized and set on fire. Weapons and various tools and documents were looted at many places.

Almost all activities of the police were stopped in these incidents. The army was deployed for the security of the police station. According to the police headquarters, the operation started in all police stations from August 15. The weapons and ammunition looted by the police are being recovered slowly.
