The President called upon Scout leaders to play a more effective role in establishing a developed-rich-smart Bangladesh by expanding and accelerating the Scout movement. Sahabuddin.
He made this call in a message given on the occasion of the 52nd Bangladesh Scouts Day on Monday (April 8).
The President said, βOn the occasion of the 52nd Bangladesh Scouts Day, I extend my sincere greetings and congratulations to all the members of Bangladesh Scouts.β I think this year's theme of Bangladesh Scouts Day 'Smart Scouting, Smart Citizen' is timely in the current context.β
The President also said, 'Scout movement is a voluntary, non-political and educational activity for children, teenagers and youth. Apart from formal education, scouts have immense importance as co-curricular activities. Scouting helps children and teenagers become good citizens by teaching with joy. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started Scouting in the country in 1972 and issued a Presidential Ordinance recognizing Scouting. In the 52 years of its establishment, Bangladesh Scouts is playing a commendable role in making the scouts smart, self-reliant and responsible citizens along with increasing the number of members. I call upon all concerned to make unremitting efforts to continue this trend of the Scout movement.'
He said, 'Through scouting, we have to inspire our youth with the spirit of the great liberation war and the motto of patriotism. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced 'Vision 2041' to make Bangladesh a developed-rich-smart scouting country by 2041. To achieve this goal, it is the need of the hour to develop the youth as honest, ideal, smart citizens through smart scouting. The President wished the future prosperity and success of Bangladesh Scouts.
