The 'Shahidi March' program of the anti-discrimination student movement is going on

Remembrance of the dead

On the one month anniversary of the fall of the 'dictator' Sheikh Hasina in the mass uprising of the students, the 'Shaheedi March' of the students has started in the memory of the martyrs. On Thursday (September 5) at 3:30 in the afternoon, the students started the Martyr's March from in front of the anti-terrorist Raju sculpture of Dhaka University (DU). Students and common people from various universities, colleges, technical schools, madrasas and schools of Dhaka including Dhaka University participated in it.

The march is scheduled to start from the university's Raju Bhaskar, pass through Neelkhet-Sciencelab-Kala Bagan-Parliament Bhawan-Farmgate-Carwan Bazar-Shahbagh-Raju Bhaskar and conclude with a rally at Shaheed Minar.

Earlier, students of various schools, colleges and universities gathered in front of the Raju sculpture. Later, the Martyrdom March started from there with a huge procession. The students kept chanting slogans like 'Success, Success, Martyrs' March', 'Because of martyrs, I am not afraid of death', Abu Saeed/Martyrs' blood, I will not give it in vain', 'Abu Saeed/Martyrs are remembered on this day' etc. .

Speakers said, exactly one month ago we got independent Bangladesh after overthrowing dictator Sheikh Hasina. Thousands of our students had to give their lives in exchange for this freedom. Thousands of students and general public were injured. Many are crippled, many are still in hospital beds. We remember those martyrs and wounded with respect for gifting our independent country.

Under the banner of the anti-discrimination student movement, the students started the movement for quota reforms in government jobs at the beginning of last July. In order to suppress this movement, various organizations of the then ruling Awami League, including the Chhatra League, and the law and order forces attacked and tortured it at one point, it turned into a movement to bring down the government. On August 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country in the face of violent protests by the students. This ended the rule of Awami League for almost 16 years.
