The police recovered the skeleton from a bill in Mirzapur, Tangail. The skeleton was recovered from Tetila Bill of Takia Kadma village of the upazila on Sunday (May 5) afternoon. Locals believe that the skeleton belongs to Swapna Begum, a resident of the same village who went missing eight months ago.
The police and locals said that Dulal Mia, son of Salam Mia of Takia Kadma village, got married to Swapna Begum, daughter of Malek Sikdar of Chitmamudpur village of Tarafpur union of the upazila, a century ago. They have two sons in their family. Swapna Begum went missing eight months ago. In that incident, a general diary (GD) was made from the family to Mirzapur police station. But, no trace of Swapna Begum was found.
Locals found a skeleton tied to a pole in Tetila Bill near Dulal Mia's house in Takia Kadma village on Sunday afternoon. After learning about the incident, the police came and recovered the skeleton.
Humayun Kabir, inspector in charge of Mirzapur's Banshtail police outpost, said that the locals believe that the skeleton is that of a missing woman. The identity of the skeleton can be confirmed after the DNA test.
