The third phase of polling for the sixth upazila parishad election will be held on May 29. The Election Commission (EC) has approved 3,277 observers for this round of elections. On Sunday (May 26), the director of EC's public relations branch said. Shariful Alam

He said that according to the Election Observation Policy 2023 and related laws, 229 central and 3,48 local observers of 15 observer organizations registered with the Election Commission have been authorized to observe the election.

Card of Central Observers will be issued from Election Commission Secretariat. Cards and stickers for local observers will be issued from the Returning Officer's office.

Instructions to be followed in case of local observers-A committee headed by the Returning/Assistant Returning Officer shall scrutinize and supply the identity card and vehicle sticker to the authorized observing agency as per the local observation policy.

The Election Commission approved observer agency shall submit an application form EO-2, EO-3 form, attested copy of SSC certificate, one copy of passport and one copy of stamp size color photograph to the Returning/Assistant Returning Officer for each observer.

The Returning/Assistant Returning Officer will prepare the list of valid observers approved by the Commission after verifying these data as per the Observation Policy 2023 and give them identity cards prescribed by the Election Commission.

No card can be issued by appointing an observer as an observer if he is an office bearer of the central or local committee of a political party or is responsible as a local election agent/campaign committee/polling agent.

Observers will observe the election as mobile observers in teams of not more than five. For this, they have to take the sticker of the election commission observer written on the car. No person other than an authorized observer can travel in a vehicle with a sticker saying Election Commission Observer.

The prescribed identity card and vehicle sticker shall be issued and recorded in the register and sent to the Election Commission Secretariat.
