An important bridge has collapsed due to the impact of the ship in Baltimore, USA. Several vehicles fell into the water after the bridge collapsed on Tuesday morning. This information is known from a report of the British media The Guardian.
According to the report, the accident happened around 1:30 am local time. Then the ship caught fire.
The Maryland Transportation Authority said on social media X that the I-695 bridge was the victim of an accident. Because of this, all the lanes of the bridge have been closed in both directions. The length of the bridge is 2.6 km.
Baltimore's mayor said rescue workers are on the scene and rescue efforts are underway.
According to the fire service, as a result of the collision, many vehicles on the bridge at the time fell down. Seven construction workers and three to four civilian vehicles are believed to have been on the bridge when it collapsed.
