The United Nations wants justice for those involved in the massive violence, loss of life and casualties during the student-crowd movement in Bangladesh. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' spokesperson Stephen Dujarric made these comments in the statement on Bangladesh at the UN regular briefing on Tuesday (August 20) local time and in response to questions from journalists.

In the letter, the Secretary General welcomed the efforts to restore peace in Bangladesh and hold parliamentary elections.

He said, in the letter, the Secretary General also said – he hopes, along with the voices of the minority and tribal communities, Dr. Yunus' government will adopt an inclusive approach. He is counting on the interim government of Bangladesh to ensure full protection of all citizens and especially minorities. Besides, to ensure the welfare of Rohingya refugees. Yunus was strongly urged by the Secretary-General, especially in view of the deteriorating situation in Myanmar.
