On the Phulbari border in Kurigram, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) troops have reached a kitchen in Bangladesh after leaking tin rice. The locals are scared. This incident happened last Sunday (May 12) evening near International Main Pillar 931 of Dhularkuti border of Naodanga Union of Upazila.
A team of BGB including Naik Subedar Nazrul Islam of Gorakhmandal camp under Lalmonirhat 15 BGB visited the affected house on Sunday around 12:30 pm after receiving the news. Later they recovered a bullet from there and brought it to the camp.
On Monday (May 13) morning, BGB strongly protested about this incident. On that evening, BGB-BSF officials held a flag meeting at the same border.
Locals said that some women went to no man's land around 5.30 pm last Sunday to collect the remaining straw after cutting the paddy. At this time, a BSF member on patrol of the Indian Narayanganj camp chased them. When they ran into the territory of Bangladesh after being chased, the BSF personnel raised their rifles 20 to 30 yards inside Bangladesh and fired rounds at the women.
The BSF bullets spilled on the kitchen floor of Noor Alam Bachchu's house along the border. Shakila Akhtar, the wife of Noor Alam's son, who was in the kitchen at that time, was frightened by the sound of gunshots. Meanwhile, Shakila, who was in the kitchen, saw a round of bullets on the floor of the room. On receiving the information, the BGB members of Gorakhondal camp recovered the bullets from the spot and took them to the camp at around 12:30 pm.
Nur Alam Bachchu said, 'The son's wife was in the kitchen. The bullet did not hit the forehead well. Then we would have to cry over the corpse today. He said, BSF often enter Bangladesh like this and torture the villagers. We people here are always in fear.
Acting Director of 15 Lalmonirhat Battalion of BGB, Major Asif, said that a flag meeting was held at the company commander level at the border on Monday (May 13) at six o'clock in the evening. The meeting was led by Shimulbari Camp Company Commander Subedar Naresh Chandra Roy on behalf of BGB and Inspector Raman Singh, Company Commander of India's 90 BSF Battalion Narayanganj on behalf of BSF. In the meeting, when the BGB strongly objected to the reason for the unprovoked firing on the border, the BSF said to hold another flag meeting to review the CCTV footage of the border. BGB is on alert on that border.
