There was no testimony on the first day in the Tipu-Preeti murder case

Evidence was not taken on the first day in the murder case of former general secretary of Motijheel police station Awami League Zahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afrin Preeti in Shahjahanpur of the capital.

On Tuesday (May 21), the case was for taking evidence in the court of Judge Ali Hossain of Dhaka's Special Judge Court-3. But, as the judge was on vacation on that day, Acting Judge Aktaruzzaman set the next date for taking evidence on June 20.

On April 29, the court ordered the trial to be started by framing charges against 33 accused. The accused are – Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Organizing Secretary Golam Ashraf Talukder, Dhaka South City Corporation Ward No. 10 Councilor and Awami League Leader Maruf Ahmed Mansoor, Top Underworld Terrorist Jisan Ahmed Montu, Freedom Manik alias Zafar, Chief Coordinator Suman Sikder Musa, Shooter Masum. Mohammad Akash, Shamim Hossain, Taufiq Hasan alias BD Babu, expelled president of Dhaka South Ward No. 10 Jubo League Maruf Reza Sagar, former Chhatra League member Arifur Rahman alias Ghatak Sohail, Motijheel Thana Jatiya Party leader Zuber Alam Khan Robin, Hafizul Islam Hafiz, Habibullah Bahar College Chhatra League. Former convener Sohail Shahriar, Mahbubur Rahman Titu, Nasir Uddin Manik, Moshiur Rahman Ikram, Yasir Arafat Saikat, Abul Hossain Mohammad Arfan Ullah Imam Khan, Sekandar Shikder Akash, former general secretary of Motijheel Thana Chhatra League Khairul Islam Matbar, Abu Saleh Shikder, Kiler Nasir, Omar Farooq, Mohammad Maruf Khan, Ishtiaq Ahmed Jitu, Imran Hossain Jitu, Rakibur Rahman Rakib, Morshedul Alam Palash, Rifat Hossain, Sohail Rana, former leader of Ward Jubo League Aminul, Samsul Haider Uchhal and former president of Ward number 11 Kamruzzaman Babul.

Zahidul Islam Tipu and Preeti were killed by unknown miscreants in front of Shajahanpur Amtala Islami Bank Hospital on their way home from a restaurant adjacent to Motijheel AGB Colony Kachha Bazar on March 24, 2022. Tipu's driver was shot dead.

Tipu's wife Farzana Islam Dolly filed a case in this incident. Unknown persons are accused in the case. Inspector Yasin Shikder, investigating officer of the case, filed a charge sheet against 33 people on June 5 last year.
