Thief came to steal corn and left the truck behind

In Sherpur upazila of Bogra, while stealing maize from the godown of M/s Chowdhury Traders, the local people chased the thief, leaving the truck and running away. In this incident, on Sunday noon, the police of Sherpur police station recovered the truck from Chaubaria (Bathuabari) of Khanpur union and kept it in the police station's custody.

It is known that various goods including corn and mustard were stolen from various godowns on the Sherpur to Dhunat regional road. On Saturday night in Chaubaria (Bathuabari) village of Khanpur Union, around 1 am, 5-6 thieves were stealing corn from the godown by driving a truck (Dhak-May-D-12-3102) to the godown of M/s Chowdhury Traders. When the local Ayub Ali (35) saw the matter, he held a knife to his throat and tied his hands, feet and face and kept him in the godown. Later local Hatim Ali and his wife Sathi saw the lights off in front of the godown and they became suspicious. The car sees the theft in the light of traffic lights. Later, when the locals came together to catch them, they left the truck behind and ran away.

Hatim Ali and his wife Sathi said, we turned on the lights. Suspicious seeing lights off around 1:30 am. Later I saw the thief starting to load the broken lock of corn. Then when the owners and locals came out, they ran away.

Proprietor of M/s Chowdhury Traders Hafizur Rahman said, corn is stored in the godown. Last Thursday we unloaded some cars and locked them and went home. At around 2 am, local people called us and said that they came to steal corn by putting a truck in the godown. When we chased the locals, they left the truck and ran away.

Many locals also said that earlier maize and mustard were stolen from Hawk Traders, Mozammel Haque's godown, Saidul Islam's godown in Shalfa area, Milon in Bathuabari area and Shamim Sarkar's godown in Dhanut area. This thief syndicate must be caught. They will be caught only if the owner of the truck is expelled.

In this regard, Sherpur police station officer in charge Rezaul Karim said that the truck has been detained. The operation to nab this syndicate is continuing. And if Hafizur Rahman, the proprietor of M/s Chowdhury Traders files a case, there will be litigation.
