Bank accounts of influential leaders and MP-ministers are being seized one by one after the change of power of the Awami League government in the popular coup. This time the name of former Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel has been added to this list. Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has seized the bank accounts of former Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel and his family.
On Tuesday (August 20), a letter was sent to all banks and financial institutions in the country.
It is said that all bank account transactions in the names of former education minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, wife Emma Clara Button, two daughters Nina Emily Fauzia Chowdhury and Hanna Shreya Eni Chowdhury Malek and their privately owned organizations should be frozen for the next 30 days.
That is, for the next 30 days, you will not be able to make any kind of transaction. If necessary, this period of seizure of transactions will be extended. Also, various documents related to these accounts such as account opening form, KYC and transaction statement etc. have been directed to be sent to BFIU within five working days from the date of issue of the letter.
