This time the case of extortion in the name of Sheikh Hasina's cousin

A case has been filed in the name of Sheikh Sohail, cousin of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and former executive engineer of LGED Khulna, Abul Kalam Muhammad Anichuzzaman, on charges of extortion of Tk 60 lakh.

Sheikh Shahidul Islam, the owner of the contracting firm M/s SR Traders, filed the case in Amli Court-1 of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Khulna as the plaintiff on Tuesday (September 3).

Plaintiff's lawyer SM Masudur Rahman told the media that the judge of the court. Tariqul Islam took cognizance of the case and directed the Sonadanga Police Station to investigate it. The next date of the case has been fixed on October 20 this year.

It has been stated in the statement of the case that some youths came at noon on April 23 and took Shahidul Islam to Sheikh Sohel at the Sheikh's house, posing as Khulna Jubo League leaders and activists. There, Sohel blamed businessman Shahidul Islam for the ACC complaint against LGED executive engineer Anichuzzaman. Shahidul demanded Tk 60 lakh from Islam to settle the complaint. By the afternoon of that day, Shahidul borrowed Tk 60 lakh from the bank and various places and gave it to Sohail. Sheikh Sohail stopped the firearm and accepted the money.
