BNP Secretary General made this comment in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. The press conference was held to announce the decision of the BNP Standing Committee meeting yesterday.

BNP Secretary General said, the biggest thing is that our fight is to restore democracy. That's what elections are for. It is our right, our right. We have been fighting for the election for so long.

Referring to Jamaat-e-Islami, Mirza Fakhrul said, we have protested together with those parties for the cancellation of caretaker government. Many of those groups have suffered a lot of torture in their movement. Even their office has been closed. I will not do any other political thought at this moment except that movement. Yes, the interim government came through a movement-revolution. Of course this government should be given reasonable time. We are doing all kinds of cooperation for that, we will do it as long as we think the government will be in the right truck, of course we will do it.

He said, we have not forgotten who tried to depoliticize during 1-11. Even at that time there was an attempt to completely cancel and wipe out our party. We cannot forget these words. It is for my democracy, for my politics, for the welfare of my country – I have to remember these words. If we see those faces again, then enough doubts arise, questions arise. That is why we do not want to see the faces of those who worked as friends of the previous Awami League government, those who helped, those who killed. The people of this country do not want to see those who have worked to disrupt and destroy democracy.

Mirza Fakhrul said, people want a democratic setup here, they want democracy. People want elections. These things should be kept in mind. You will see how happy people are when the election comes up. If I think that one person can make heaven at all – we will not be right. Because the people will decide how the country will run.
