Top terrorist Sweden Aslam released on bail

Top terrorist Sheikh Aslam (Sweden Aslam) has been released on bail from Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur. High Security Central Jail District Lutfar Rahman confirmed the matter on Wednesday (September 4) morning.

Earlier on Tuesday (September 3) at 9 pm, he walked out of the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail. Sheikh Aslam is the son of deceased Sheikh Jinnat Ali of Chatia area of ​​Nawabganj Upazila of Dhaka. There is a murder case against him in Tejgaon police station.

According to prison authority sources, the bail papers of Hajti (No-663/20) Sheikh Aslam (62) reached Kashimpur Jail on Tuesday. Later, the jail authorities scrutinized the bail papers and released him at 9 pm. He was released from prison with his relatives. He was lodged in Kashimpur High Security Central Jail since 2014.

After investigation, it is known that the latest case was filed against Sheikh Aslam in connection with the murder of Jubo League leader Ghalib of Tejgaon. Ghalib was murdered on March 23, 1997. A case was filed against 20 people including Aslam. The police filed a charge sheet on April 8, 1998. The case is currently under trial. Out of the 24 witnesses in this case, the police have been able to present only 14 in the court so far. Sheikh Aslam was released from jail after getting bail in that case.

Home Ministry sources said that Aslam was acquitted by the court in four cases of murder and attempted murder. However, the state party did not appeal against this verdict. He was acquitted in one case. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and 17 years in two Arms Act cases. Later he was acquitted by the High Court in these cases.

Lutfar Rahman of Kashimpur High Security Central Jail said that he was incarcerated in Kashimpur Jail since 2014. After his bail papers were verified, he was released at night.

Incidentally, Sheikh Aslam is one of the 23 top terrorists declared during the four-party coalition government. He is accused of shooting Kishore Shakeel who was holding his mother's hand in front of the school in Rajabazar East of Farmgate in 1986. After that, Sheikh Aslam was accused of being involved in one murder after another. At one stage, he stayed in Sweden for some time. After returning from there, the word 'Sweden' was added to the name and the name Sweden Aslam.
