Travis Kelce’s Father Claims He’s ‘Banned for Life’ From X

Ed Kelce recently claimed he is “banned for life” from X, formerly Twitter, due to an apparent “Terms of Service” violation.

Ed Kelce shared an article on Facebook on Saturday that claimed arms dealers were using X to sell weapons while operating in Yemen.

“Arms dealers are free to peddle their wares on X, but I’m banned for life and they won’t say why, just a generic ‘Terms Of Service’ violation,” he wrote.

Ed Kelce is the father of Travis Kelce who plays as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League (NFL) and is dating popstar Taylor Swift. He is also the father of Jason Kelce, a former center with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He later clarified on Facebook that he posted his previous message to point out the social media platform’s hypocrisy.

“I posted the thing about arms dealers active on X because frankly, I was pissed at Elon’s [Musk] trolls,” he wrote.

Ed Kelce said he rarely posted on X and that he “just followed sports reporters” and “was active on X/Twitter from September to February, reading others’ posts.”

He added: “Apparently the X Twits believe I posted something contrary to their rules in May or June 2023. Never happened. I’m guessing I was hacked, as the platform isn’t all that secure. My comments when I started this conversation were merely to highlight the hypocrisy of these social media turds.”

Reports, meanwhile, suggest dealers are using the social media platform to sell Kalashnikovs, pistols, grenades and grenade-launchers.

An investigation by British newspaper The Times found that several of the Yemeni accounts bore the blue tick of verification. The advertisements are mostly in Arabic and aimed primarily at Yemeni customers.

The dealers appear to be operating in the Yemen capital Sana’a and other areas under control of the Houthis. The Houthis are believed to be responsible for a series of attacks in the Red Sea and have been intensifying their attacks on maritime vessels amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023, the Houthis have reportedly targeted over 80 vessels, claiming they aim to disrupt shipping linked to Israel and its allies. However, many of these attacks have affected ships with no apparent connection to the conflict, including those bound for Iran.

Musk, who acquired Twitter in 2022, has made numerous changes to the social media platform, including rebranding it as X last year. Musk, meanwhile, has changed the site’s functionality by removing article headlines, implementing monthly fees for verified accounts, and offering premium users more characters, among other initiatives.

Some users have reported that the platform is more divisive and less fact-based than before, while Musk argues it has the least restricted speech compared to other popular social media platforms. A report from Columbia Business School published earlier this year revealed that “accounts of fact-checkers and of unbiased media outlets are receiving 52% and 27% fewer interactions, respectively.”

In June, Travis Kelce spoke on the podcast Bussin’ With the Boys about how his father sometimes sees false information on Facebook about his relationship with Swift.

His dad then asks him whether the rumors are true.

“Do you know what he’ll do? He’ll see some wild s*** come across and be like, “What the f*** is this?” Travis Kelce said. “It’ll be something so f****** out of the blue, like something about me and Taylor, he’s like, ‘Hey, what the… are you guys OK?'”

“I’m like, ‘Dad, get the f*** off Facebook, Dad. Are you f****** kidding me?’ That’s his search engine.”
