Two changes to Netherlands' World Cup squad

The Netherlands have made two changes to their T20 World Cup squad. Injured Fred Klassen and Daniel Dorum were dropped from the team. Medium pacer Kyle Klein and leg-spin all-rounder Shakib Zulfikar have got a place in the team instead of them. Klein, however, was in traveling reserve. This time he got a place in the 15 member team.

Fred will not be able to play in the World Cup again with a torn lower back. On the other hand, Daniel was also knocked out of the World Cup due to a broken hand.

Zulfikar, who got a chance in the World Cup team, has so far played six T20Is and 15 ODIs for the Netherlands. He took 9 wickets with the ball. Economy 6.46. On the other hand, right-handed medium pacer Klein has played only one T20 and two ODIs for the Dutch. He got an opportunity to bowl an over in that only T20 against Nepal. He was wicketless with five runs.

Wicketkeeper batsman Scott Edwards will lead the Netherlands in this World Cup as usual. He also served as captain in the 2022 World Cup.

Before the World Cup, the orange jersey holders are warming up by playing a tri-series against Ireland and Scotland. They have already beaten Scotland and lost to Ireland by 1 run in the series.

Netherlands are in 'D' group in T20 World Cup. Where their opponents are Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Nepal.

The Netherlands' World Cup mission will begin with a match against Nepal on June 4. Then on June 8 will play against South Africa. Their opponent is Bangladesh in the third match on June 13. And they will face Sri Lanka in the last match of the group stage on June 17.

Before that, they will play two warm-up matches. Their opponent is Sri Lanka in the first warm-up match on May 28. And their second warm-up match against Canada on May 30.
