Two maternity deaths in 4 days in Kushtia, Clinic Gherao-Silgala

In the Nova Clinic and Diagnostic Center in Tebaria area of ​​Kumarkhali municipality of Kushtia, two maternity mothers have died within four days. Relatives alleged that patients died due to multiple pulses being cut during cesarean by fake doctors. Ever since the incident, the owner of the clinic, Badr Uddin, and all the employees are missing.

Meanwhile, relatives, anti-discrimination movement students blocked the Nova Clinic and Diagnostic Center with the dead body of the pregnant mother due to wrong treatment.

They blocked the clinic from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday (August 23). After receiving the information, the administration conducted an operation at the clinic. At that time, due to the truth of the complaint and various inconsistencies in the clinic, it was sealed for an indefinite period. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Amirul Arafat conducted the operation. At this time Kushtia Civil Surgeon Dr. Akul Uddin and policemen were present.

The deceased are Barshti Khatun (25), wife of Ripon Sheikh of Jaduboyra village of Jaduboyra union of the upazila. He died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital around 8 am on Friday. The other is Morjina Khatun (27), daughter of Abdur Rashid of Belghoria village of Nandalalpur Union. He died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on the night of August 18.

Going to the surface, it can be seen that there is a huge crowd of eager people in the clinic premises. Bristhi Khatun's body is kept in an ambulance. Rain Khatun's one-year-old daughter is held by a woman on a van in front of an ambulance. Relatives are crying nearby.

At that time China Khatun, the mother of the deceased rain in a tearful voice, said that last Thursday around 3 pm I brought my daughter to Nova Clinic to have a sauna. Then the doctor there said to perform a caesarean. At around 5:30 pm, the girl underwent caesarean section. I was happy to have a daughter by caesarean. But I was not allowed to meet Rain because of blood donation. Three bags of blood were given till 9 pm. Then suddenly around 3 o'clock in the night, Badar Uddin, the owner of the clinic hurriedly took us to Rajshahi in a microbus. Rain died there around 8 am. Two nurses from the clinic were also with them. He said, doctors have killed my daughter. I want fair trial. And they can empty someone's mother's chest.

Father Saiful Sheikh said, the owner of the clinic gave my daughter a caesarean section with a fake doctor. The girl was killed by multiple pulses during the caesarean. I want fair trial. At that time, he also informed about filing a case at the police station.

The owner of Nova Clinic and Diagnostic Center, Badar Uddin, could not speak as his phone was switched off. However, an employee of the clinic, on condition of anonymity, said, like the patient on August 18, this patient (Barshti) also had a pulse. Both died in Rajshahi.

Dr. Kushtia Civil Surgeon. Akul Uddin said that the clinic was visited after receiving news of the death of two obstetric patients in just four days. The exact cause of death will be revealed after the post-mortem. However, legal action will be taken against those involved.

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Amirul Arafat said that the clinic has been sealed for an indefinite period due to allegations of two deaths and various inconsistencies. The relatives of the deceased have been advised to file a case at the police station.

Kumarkhali police station (OC) Akibul Islam said that no one has come to the police station so far in this incident. He said that legal action will be taken if written complaint is received.
