VP Noor's party got registration with symbols

Dhaka University Central Student Union (DACSU) former VP Nurul Haque Noor's party 'Bangladesh Gana Odhikar Parishad' has been registered as a political party. The team got registration in the truck symbol.

On Monday (02 September) the notification signed by Election Commission (EC) Secretary Shafiul Azim informed about the registration.

In the notification, the EC said, as per the provisions of The Representation of the People's Order, 1972 S Chapter VIA, Bangladesh until re-ordered the 'Council of People's Rights (GOP)' whose head office is Al Razi Complex (3rd Floor), Vijaynagar, Purana Paltan, Dhaka-1000 Election Commission has registered as a political party.

The emblem 'Truck' has been reserved for the team and registration No-051, dated 02 September, 2014.

Earlier, a delegation led by the organization's general secretary Muhammad Rashid Khan went to the Election Commission. Noor requested to reconsider the application for registration as a political party. The EC has granted registration to the party as it fulfills the registration conditions.

Ahead of the 12th National Assembly elections, the People's Rights Council was excluded from the Election Commission's registration list.

Gana Odhikar Parishad was involved in the simultaneous movement under the leadership of BNP. Their leaders and activists also actively participated in the movement of the students in July-August. A few days after the start of the movement, the president of the party Nurul Haque Noor was arrested.
