Wapdar Dam in Deluti Union of Paikgacha has broken and water is entering the locality

Due to high tide, Wapdar dam broke in Kalinagar area of ​​Deluti union in Paikgacha, Khulna and water is entering the locality. It caused extensive damage to crops. Fish cages have been swept away, cropland with seedbeds has sunk.

According to local sources, around 12 noon on Thursday (August 22), Wapdar road broke in high tide water and entered the locality over an area of ​​more than 300 feet south of Amfan Bhangan on the south side of Kalinagar Bawali house of Polder No. 22 of Deluti Union of Upazila. Villages of Kalinagar, Harinkhola, Harammallik were inundated due to the breach. As a result, houses with newly planted paddy and seed floors were submerged.

Residents fear that the entire 22nd polder may be flooded by evening. Sukriti Mohan Sarkar, head teacher of Deluti Union's Madhyam Malik Secondary School, said that despite trying to repair the dam with the help of local people, it is not possible to repair the dam due to heavy water. The local residents have requested the swift intervention of the relevant authorities including the Water Development Board.
