We are not responsible for the floods in Bangladesh, India reiterated

India has once again denied the claim of flooding in Bangladesh due to the opening of Dambur Dam on the Gomti River. American media CNN recently released a video report about the terrible floods in Bangladesh.

Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaswal termed the CNN report as misleading and untrue.

In a press conference on Friday (August 30), he said, “We have seen CNN's report on the flood situation in Bangladesh. This is misleading and not factually true. The report ignores the statements made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on the flood situation.”

He further said, “Also, the regular and timely information exchange that we (with Bangladesh) have through existing joint processes on joint water management is not mentioned in the report.”

What the CNN report said

Several people of Feni have been interviewed in the video report of the American news media CNN. All of them blamed Indian authorities for the flood situation. Feni is located very close to the Bangladesh-India border. Common people told CNN that they were hit by severe floods due to the opening of the Dambur Dam in Tripura without any prior warning.”

India's Ministry of External Affairs released a statement last week in the face of complaints from the common people of Bangladesh. They claim that there was no flood in Bangladesh due to the opening of the dam. Floods occurred in Tripura and Bangladesh due to abnormal rainfall.
