What the Meteorological Office said about the heat alert


The country is burning as a result of the heat waves flowing over the country. The Met Office has issued a heat alert for 2 more days across the country due to intense heat. The company has issued a heat alert for the seventh time.

The country's highest temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jessore on April 30, which is the highest in the last five decades. The highest temperature recorded in Chuadanga on this day was 43.7 degrees Celsius. Earlier in 1995, 43.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga.

On April 17, 2023, the highest temperature recorded in the country in the previous nine years was 43 degrees Celsius in Ishwardi. And in May 2014, the highest temperature recorded in Chuadanga was 43.3 degrees Celsius. And the highest temperature in the history of the country was recorded on May 18, 1972 in Rajshahi at 45.1 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka was 40.5 degrees Celsius in April. The highest temperature recorded in Dhaka on April 16, 2023 was 40.6 degrees Celsius, the highest in the previous 58 years.
