Chittagong, Feni, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Habiganj and Moulvibazar districts were submerged due to continuous rains and landslides from upstream. Along with that, the water of seven rivers is above the danger level.
In this situation, heavy rainfall continues in the south-eastern districts of the country.
However, from Friday (August 23), the rain will reduce a little in these districts, said the Meteorological Department.
Apart from this, the Meteorological Agency also said that rainfall may continue in the country till next Monday (August 26) under the influence of monsoon.
In a briefing on Thursday (August 22) morning, the Directorate of Meteorology informed that rain will continue for a few more days in Brahmanbaria, Noakhali, Feni, Comilla, Laxmipur, Chittagong, Bandarban and Rangamati areas.
These areas recorded 50 to 80 mm of rain within 3 hours from this morning. Out of this, Comilla recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, 188 mm.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are currently occurring in Assam, Tripura and Meghalaya in India. As these areas are high, the flood water is increasing in Bangladesh. In this situation, there is a possibility of landslides in the hilly areas of Chittagong.
Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Khulna, Chittagong, Barisal and Sylhet divisions within the next 48 hours, the Meteorological Department has also said.
