The government has decided to keep the country's educational institutions open on Saturdays to meet the shortage of students. A notification has also been issued in this regard from the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. However, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has said that Saturday remains a weekend holiday in all government primary schools of the country.
An office order signed by the ministry's deputy secretary Aktarunnahar on Saturday (April 27) has given guidance on the management of primary schools during the severe heat wave. There is no word on whether the primary school will be open there on Saturday.
When asked about the matter, Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, senior information officer of the ministry, told Jago News, 'No decision has been taken regarding the cancellation of Saturday holiday. However, it is up to the teachers to decide whether or not there will be a class in a primary school. If they feel that the students are deficient in learning, then they can negotiate and keep the school open on Saturdays. We have given instructions in this regard as well.'
