‘Wordle’ #1,168 Answer, Clues and Hints for Friday, August 30 Puzzle

It did not take long for Wordle to become a smash hit when it was first released to the public in October 2021.

Upon its release it had around 90 players, but within weeks that turned into hundreds of thousands. To this day it is the most popular puzzle on The New York Times Games app.

The media group bought the game in early 2022 and it’s not only a hit with us humble folks around the world, but also with celebrities.

Keegan-Michael Key, the Emmy award-winning star of Key & Peele and Wonka, teamed up with the NYT in 2023 to invite players to compete against him in their game group chats.

“There’s a fun sense of accomplishment that comes with starting the day solving a New York Times game,” Key said in 2023.

“It’s also a great reason to have a quick check-in with a few of my friends (and get in a little friendly competition). I’ve always been a fan of words and language and any game that can test my acumen.”

Other Hollywood stars who love Wordle include award-winning comedy legends Allison Janney and Carol Burnett, with the latter describing the game as “fun.”

“Allison and I, we Wordle,” Burnett told Entertainment Tonight in April 2023, saying they often text each other daily. “We just Wordle back and forth. She’s the first one every morning at my coffee.”

Wordle involves guessing a mystery five-letter word in six attempts or less. Players start by typing in a word and using the process of elimination to solve the puzzle.

A colored tile system helps along the way to let you know if you’re on the right track or not. Green means the letter is in the word and in the correct spot, while a yellow tile means while that letter appears in the word it is in the wrong location, and finally a gray tile means that letter is not in the word at all.

Today’s average difficulty is 4.8 guesses out of 6, or moderately challenging, according to the NYT.
