At the moment, the WWE has 10 championships a wrestler could win.
This includes two men’s world championships, two women’s world championships, two men’s mid-card titles, two men’s tag team titles, one women’s tag team title, and the WWE Speed Title defended exclusively on X.
While this seems like a lot for the wrestlers on the roster to fight over, it’s difficult when the same small group of wrestlers continuously fight and/or hold onto the same titles.
Truly, WWE needs something to create another title to have something other wrestlers can aim for. And one superstar has the perfect idea.

In a recent post on X, WWE Superstar Karrion Kross pitched the idea of an Extreme Wrestling Championship that would be decided by tournament, similar to King and Queen of the Ring.
“It would be awesome to hold an extreme rules tournament right now in WWE to introduce a new Extreme Wrestling Championship,” Kross said. “No rules. No DQ. Pinfall, submission or knockout.”
When fans asked questions, Kross elaborated further, saying that the tournament entrants would be decided by fan vote. Additionally, he thought this would be a great opportunity for more programming when WWE Raw transfers to Netflix.
This is reminiscent of the Hardcore Championship that was a part of WWE and WCW in the late 90s and early 2000s. The stipulations were similar, except that it had to be defended 24/7.
The matches for this title would likely be similar to the hardcore style of matches popularized in the United States by Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).
While this is definitely an exciting idea and a way to build variety into the type of matches WWE has throughout the year, there are some other areas that need more attention.
Specifically, it would be great if WWE had a mid-card title for the women’s division.
Currently, female wrestlers in WWE can only wrestle for three titles. Adding a secondary title similar to the US Championship or Intercontinental Championship would give another opportunity for storytelling in a division that seems to focus on the same group of wrestlers.
While a Women’s Speed Championship is on the way, it won’t have the same prestige as a Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Still, it would be cool to bring a more extreme style of wrestling back to WWE. Hopefully, Triple H could avoid the disaster that was the WWE version of ECW.
