Youth League leader permanently expelled from Jessore


Jessore Sadar upazila chairman candidate, Jubo Mahila League convener upazila chairman candidate Fatema Anwar has been permanently expelled from the organization.

She was expelled on Saturday (May 18) as per the decision of the Central Committee of Yuva Mahila League. Earlier on Friday Jessore District Awami League recommended taking organizational action against Fatema Anwar.

This action was taken against Fatema Anwar as the video of her saying 'Prime Minister's son-in-law also does BNP' went viral on social media.

A press release signed by Bangladesh Jubo Mahila League President Daisy Sarwar and General Secretary Sharmin Sultana Lilly has informed that according to the decision of the emergency meeting of the Bangladesh Jubo Mahila League Central Executive Council, Fatema Anwar, the convener of Sadar Upazila branch of Jessore district, has been arrested by Bangladesh Jubo Mahila League for allegedly being involved in anti-organizational and anti-discipline activities. Permanently expelled from Jubo Mahila League.

In this regard Jessore District Jubo Mahila League President Manjunnahar Nazneen Sonali said that the central committee has expelled Fatema Anwar. Earlier on Friday Jessore District Awami League recommended taking organizational action against Fatema Anwar.

Jessore District Awami League Deputy Office Secretary Ohidul Islam Tarafdar said, Jessore Sadar Upazila Jubo Mahila League convener and upcoming Sadar Upazila Parishad chairman candidate Fatema Anwar held a press conference on Thursday (May 17). A video of this press conference has gone viral on social media. In the video, he clearly said, 'Our Hon'ble Prime Minister's son-in-law also does BNP.' He also said, 'Her husband is a former leader of the district Chhatra Dal and can form more than one party from the same family.'

Jessore District Awami League President Shahidul Islam Milon and General Secretary Shaheen Chakladar strongly condemned and protested the incident. Along with that, he strongly recommended to the Center to take organizational measures including canceling the post of convenor and primary membership of Jubo Mahila League.

The notification also mentions that Fatema Anwar's husband Anisur Rahman Liton alias Finge Liton is the most wanted accused of the police. He is involved in multiple criminal activities including murder-disappearance, drug, gold, arms smuggling. He has been absconding outside the country for a long time. His name is in the list of top terrorists of the country. He is also a wanted accused of Interpol.

When contacted on this issue, Fatima Anwar told reporters that it is a citizen's right to comment on a statesman. District Awami League decided against me; I feel injustice is being done to me through this.
