Zariful Islam (32) of Hatibandha of Lalmonirhat participated in the anti-discrimination student movement. He is an employee of a shop selling chicken in Savar, Dhaka. On July 19, Zariful was hit by two bullets in his left leg when the police opened fire during the protest in Savar. He has been treated for some time by selling pet cows and goats.
