149 loads of gold have disappeared from the locker of a branch of Islami Bank in Chittagong. The incident took place in Chawkbazar branch of the city. The cost of lost gold is 1 crore 74 lakh 59 thousand 373 taka. The owner claims that these golds have been removed by bank officials. Bank officials say that the key of the locker remains with the account holder (customer). In that case the customer cannot avoid liability. Investigation will reveal the main facts.

149 loads of gold belonging to a customer has disappeared from the locker of a branch of Islami Bank in Chittagong. The incident took place in Chawkbazar branch of the city. Even though it happened in the afternoon of May 29, neither the bank authorities nor the customers have complained to the police till now.

In this context, the victim Rokeya Bari's son Dr. Riyad Mohammad Marzouk claims that the bank officials tried to assure them that they have formed an investigation team to investigate the incident and will reveal the exact facts within seven days. Apart from this, although no complaint was filed, the incident was verbally reported to the police.

Doctor Riyad Mohammad Marzooq said that his mother has been using the locker to keep her gold jewelery at Chawkbazar branch of Islami Bank since 2007. Went to the bank around 12 noon on Wednesday and requested the in-charge of the locker room to see his locker. The mother has the original key of the locker and another duplicate key is kept by the in-charge.

He said, they both entered the locker room. Then the in-charge first saw that the mother's locker was open. Later my mother checked the locker and informed the bank officials about the gold ornaments.

When asked about this, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Islami Bank Chowkbazar branch Akiz Uddin said, we are looking into the matter. The customer has the master key, but we don't. He visited the bank a month ago and checked the locker. We do not have information about any customer's locker storage. Trying to resolve the issue.

Wali Uddin Akbar, OC of Chawkbazar police station, said that there is no CCTV camera in the locker room. We visited the spot and collected primary evidence. The victim and her son wanted to report to the police station. But we have asked to file a criminal case due to the seriousness of the incident.
