Due to the ongoing floods, 23 people have lost their lives in different districts of the country so far. Besides, two people are missing. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief announced this information on Monday (August 26). It is also reported that 57 lakh 1 thousand 204 have been affected by the flood.
According to the ministry, six people died in Comilla, 10 in Chittagong and Noakhali, three in Cox's Bazar, one each in Feni, Khagrachari, Brahmanbaria and Lakshipur. Besides, two people are missing in Moulvibazar district.
3 thousand 834 shelters have been opened for the shelter of water stranded and affected people. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief said that 4 lakh 69 thousand 523 people and 28 thousand 907 cattle have been sheltered in these shelters. The ministry said in a circular that 645 medical teams are operational to provide medical services to the victims of 11 districts.
Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said that the flood situation in Feni and Comilla districts continued to improve without increasing the intensity of rainfall. Sub-Divisional Engineer Partha Pratim Barua gave this information in the regular briefing on Monday morning.
He said that the water in the rivers in the North-Eastern, Eastern and South-Eastern regions of the country continues to decrease. He said that the overall flood situation of the country is improving.
Partha Pratim Barua said that the water of Moulvibazar and Habiganj rivers has come down below the danger limit. In the next 24 hours, moderate rainfall is likely to occur in eastern and surrounding areas. This may increase the water level of major rivers in some areas.
