23 killed in Pakistan passenger bus attack – Bangladesh Diplomat

Gunmen shot and killed 23 people in southwestern Pakistan after alighting passengers from buses, trucks and other vehicles.

Ayub Achakzai, a senior police officer, said that the murder was carried out overnight in Kusakhail district of Balochistan province.

He also said that the attackers burnt at least 10 cars before fleeing.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi termed the attack as 'barbaric' and said those behind it will be brought to justice. No one will be spared.'

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. But separatists in Balochistan often kill laborers and others in the country's eastern Punjab. This is part of the campaign to force them to leave the province. This rebellion has been going on for years.

Earlier, most such killings were blamed on the banned Balochistan Liberation Army and other groups fighting for independence from the central government in Islamabad. The province also has a presence of Islamic extremists.
