23 sailors of the MV Abdullah ship freed from Somali pirates will return to Chittagong by air next Saturday (April 20). In this regard, the ship owner authority KSRM Group is taking necessary initiatives. Mehrul Karim, CEO of KSRM Group, said this at a press conference at KSRM headquarters on Sunday (April 14).
Mehrul Karim said the ship left for Dubai port after the Somali pirates got off the ship. The ship is expected to anchor at Dubai port on April 19. A new team of sailors will then take charge of the ship. The sailors, held hostage by the pirates for a long month, will disembark. All arrangements are being made to bring them back to Chittagong by direct flight from Dubai. Hopefully, they will return directly to Chittagong on April 20. Then they will return to their respective relatives.
KSRM Group Deputy General Manager Shahriar Jahan Rahat said in the press conference that the safety of the sailors was of utmost importance to us. So we did not agree to any military operation. Plans to rescue MV Abdullah by Indian warships were also discouraged. We immediately informed the government after learning of the pursuit of the Indian warship MV Abdullah. After informing several ministers of Chittagong, the Indian warship left the company of MV Abdullah in just 30 minutes. KSRM Group thanked the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Education Minister for this.
