People's rights council and students have protested the floods caused by Bangladesh due to the opening of a dam in India's Tripura. In this context, the leaders and activists of the organization observed the March to Indian High Commission.
After that, a seven-member delegation of the organization went to the Indian Embassy in Dhaka and presented seven-point demands on behalf of the students. The delegation was led by member secretary of People's Rights Council Farooq Hasan.
The delegation presented a seven-point demand to the officials of the Indian Embassy located in the New Bazaar area of the capital on Thursday (August 22) at 4 pm. The seven-point demand was given in written form to the Indian Embassy officials.
After returning from the Indian embassy, the member secretary of the People's Rights Council Farooq Hasan said, “We have informed the Indian embassy authorities that they should quickly close the dams that have been opened on the same rivers near the border of Bangladesh. If they don't meet our demands within 24 hours, we will announce a tougher program. The Indian embassy authorities have told us that they will convey our demands to the government of that country.
Among their demands are that within the next 24 hours the dams opened by India should be closed, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be sent to Bangladesh for trial and the BSF should stop killing Bangladeshi citizens on the border.
Earlier on Thursday (August 22) around 2.30 pm, the march started in front of the Confidence Center in Shahjadpur of the capital.
