3 killed, 82 admitted to DM


During the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, 172 motorcycle accidents occurred in the capital and surrounding areas. The accident happened between 12:00 PM on Wednesday (April 10) and 9:30 PM on Thursday (11 April). So far 82 people have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Three of them are now dead.

Md. Bachchu Mia said that the roads are empty because they are closed during the Eid holidays. On this occasion, the motorcyclists were driving the motorcycle at a reckless speed and were victims of this accident, according to their relatives. From 12:00 pm yesterday to 9:30 pm today, 172 motorcycle accident victims were brought to the emergency department at the Dhaka Medical Center for treatment. Out of this, 82 people have been admitted. Three people have already died. The doctors in charge told us that the condition of many others is critical.

On behalf of Dhaka Medical, we have reported each accident to the concerned police station. They will take care of it.

He also said that three people including women have been killed so far in Gulshan, Demra and Narsingdi. The bodies of the three have been kept in the mortuary of the emergency department of the hospital.

Meanwhile, 5 people, including three members of the same family, died on Wednesday afternoon at Saradghat in Radhani due to the broken rope of the launch. Three of the deceased are from the same family – Pirojpur's Mathbaria Md. Belal (30), his wife Mukta (24) and their four-year-old daughter Maisha.

Zahirul Islam, brother-in-law of deceased Belal's wife, rushed to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (Mitford) after hearing about the accident. He said that Belal worked in a garment factory in Gazipur. He lived there with his wife and daughter. They came to Sadarghat to go to Pirojpur by launch on the day of Eid.

He said that Belal's parents died long ago. He also lost his life while returning to the village with his wife and children on the day of Eid. There was no one left in Belal's family.

On April 11, around 3:30 pm, five people were killed when another launch rammed between two launches at Sadarghat. Apart from Belal's family, the others killed in the accident are Rabiul (19) of Thakurgaon and Ripon Howladar (38) of Patuakhali.
