Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UK-based education and research organization, has published a list of the world's top universities. Only three universities of Bangladesh have been placed in the list out of 1,000.
Among them, Dhaka University is at 691 to 700 positions, BUET is at 801 to 850 positions and North South Private University is at 851 to 900 positions. Apart from this, 45 places in neighboring India and 14 places in Pakistan are among the top universities.
The top three universities in the world in QS ranking are MIT, Cambridge and Oxford University. Asia has one university in the top 10 rankings. It is the National University of Singapore.
Meanwhile, QS has released the category-wise list along with the global ranking. There, a university of Bangladesh has got a place in the arts and humanities department. Dhaka University is in 551 to 550 position.
Apart from this, two universities of Bangladesh have been ranked in the engineering and technology department. Among them, BUET is at 305th position and Dhaka University is between 500 and 550th position.
A university in Bangladesh has been ranked in the social science and management category. Dhaka University is in 401 to 500 position. No university in Bangladesh was ranked in Life Science and Medicine Department and Natural Science Department.
