Four people including two farmers have lost their lives due to lightning in four upazilas of Comilla. The deceased are Mokhlesh (58) of Dhamti village of Debidwar upazila, Atiqul Islam (50) of North Suryanagar village of Comilla Sadar Dakshin upazila, farmer Alam Hossain of Burichong upazila and farmer Daultur Rahman (47) of Chandina upazila.
They died after being struck by lightning at different times on Thursday (May 2) after 5 pm.
According to local and police sources, Daultur Rahman (47) died due to lightning while doing agricultural work in Kishmat-Shrimantapur village of Chandina upazila. While Alam Hossain was harvesting paddy in Noapara village of Rajapur Union of Burichong, the other two died on the spot as they were outside during the rain.
As there was no complaint from the families of the victims, the bodies were allowed to be buried by the police.
