4 pirates arrested with weapons in Cox's Bazar


The Coast Guard arrested four pirates while preparing to rob a fishing trawler in Cox's Bazar, Kutubdia section of the Bay of Bengal.

On Monday (March 25) afternoon, the Media Officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi gave this information.

The arrested are – Chittagong Banshkhali Upazila Md. Iqbal Hossain (20) and Anwara Upazila. Nayan (18), Md. Hefaz (23) and Md. Ashek (16).

Lieutenant Commander Khandkar Munif Taqi said that on Sunday night, members of the Coast Guard East Zone conducted an operation at the Baraghop West Beach area of ​​Kutubdia in Cox's Bazar. A suspicious trawler was searched and four pirates were arrested.

1 country pistol, 2 rounds of cartridges, 1 chapati, 2 hammers, 1 saber, 1 hook, 5 mobile phones and 1 engine driven wooden boat were recovered from them.

The arrested pirates and seized weapons have been handed over to Qutubdia police station for further legal action, said the media official.
