At least 48 people have died after a highway collapsed in China's Guangdong province due to heavy rains. Besides, 30 more people were injured. The country's state media Xinhua reported this information.
According to Xinhua, the landslide occurred on the Meizhou-Dabu highway in Guangdong province around 2 a.m. local time on Wednesday due to heavy rain. About 60 feet of the highway collapsed and 23 vehicles were trapped in the pothole. The death toll in this incident has increased to 48 people.
According to the local administration, it has been raining in Guangdong province for the past few days. There were hundreds of vehicles on the road when the highway collapsed. They were buried under the rubble and killed. The road will be rehabilitated after the rescue work is over. But the authorities said it is time consuming.
