60 people died in heavy rains and floods in Afghanistan

At least 60 people have been killed in heavy rains and floods in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province. Hundreds more people were injured in the sudden flood in the country.

BBC reported this information in a report on Saturday (May 11).

According to reports, floods have occurred in more than five districts of Baghlan province due to continuous rains. At least 60 people have been killed. Dozens of people are missing. More than 100 people were injured, Taliban officials said.

Afghanistan has experienced unusually heavy rainfall for the past few weeks. Two more storms were forecast for the Baghlan region on Friday night. A warning has been given that the death toll may increase due to this.

Afghanistan's interior ministry spokesman Abdul Matin Kani told the BBC that more than five districts of Baghlan province were flooded due to continuous rain. Many families have become waterlogged. They need urgent help.

The main road connecting Kabul with northern Afghanistan remains closed due to flooding. Emergency workers, including the army, are searching for possible victims under the mud and rubble. This comes after dozens of people died in floods in western Afghanistan last month.
