8 people were abducted from the hilly area of ​​Teknaf in Cox's Bazar. A ransom of Rs 3 lakh has been demanded from the family for each.

On Wednesday (March 27) at noon, six people were abducted from the western hilly area of ​​Unchiprang Rohingya Camp No. 12 and 2 people from the Putibnia hilly area of ​​Huaikung Union in Teknaf.

Shahjalal, a UP member of Ward No. 5, Hoikang, confirmed the truth of the incident.

The abducted are Shakil Mia (15) son of Ledu Mia of Karachi neighborhood of Huaykong, Junaid (13) son of Belal, Saiful (14) son of Nurul Amin, Farid (35) son of Shahr Ali, Sona Mia (24) son of Nazir Hochen, Shahr. Mulluk's son Gura Puitya (32). The names of the other two are not known.

UP member Shahjalal said that 6 people went missing while doing cow herding and farming work in hilly areas. Later, the kidnapping gang called the mobile number of one's father to confirm the abduction and demanded a ransom of Tk 3 lakh. The abductees are being beaten and screamed. The abductees have been threatened to be killed if they inform the police about this matter.

Shakil Mia's father Ledu Mia said, I was worried because I went to herd cows in the morning and did not return till afternoon. Among them, a ransom of three lakh taka has been demanded from one of the numbers. I'm scared now.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station. Osman Gani said, knowing about the kidnapping of 6 people, the police have been sent to the scene and the families of the relatives. Legal action is being taken by talking to them.

Earlier on Tuesday (March 26), two people were kidnapped while bringing cows to the Hwaikung Kombanya hilly area of ​​Teknaf.

They are – Ali Ahmed (32) son of Amir Hossain of Ghona area of ​​Hoyakung Roza in Teknaf and Noor Mohammad (17) son of Firuz of Kambania area.

Mohammad Hasan, UP member of Hoikang Union Parishad in Teknaf, said two people were abducted from the hilly area. Their families are being contacted and inquiries are being made.

Noor Ahmed Anwari, Chairman of Hoikang Union, said that the ransom was demanded by phone on Wednesday morning from the families of the 2 abducted persons. But how much money has been asked; Relatives of the abductees are not saying anything about that. It is believed that the relatives are secretly trying to bring them back with money without informing the police and public representatives due to threats.

In the last one year, 109 people have been abducted from different areas of Teknaf. 59 of them are local residents; The rest are Rohingya citizens.

According to the families of the abductees, at least 51 of the abductees have been released on ransom. Among them, Chowad bin Abdullah, a madrasa student who was abducted from East Pankhali area of ​​Hnila on March 9, could not be rescued even after 19 days passed. However, the police arrested 5 members of the gang, including the driver of the auto-rickshaw used in the kidnapping and a woman member of the gang. 5 people are Rohingya.
