Gust 60 km/h expected, caution in river ports


As the monsoon is active over the country, gusty winds of up to 60 kmph are likely to blow over the three regions of the country. So the number one signal has been raised in the river ports of those areas. The Meteorological Office has made such a forecast on Tuesday (June 4).

Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque said rain/thundershowers with gusty winds of 45-60 kmph from west/northwest direction over Dhaka, Comilla, and Sylhet regions. The number one warning signal has been asked to be displayed at the river ports of these areas.

At present, the extension of western low pressure has extended to northwest Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is fairly active over the country and moderate elsewhere in North Bay of Bengal.

On Wednesday (June 5) most places of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and some places of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions may experience light to moderate rain/thunder with gusty winds temporarily. Along with this, there may be moderate to heavy rainfall at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Meanwhile, mild heatwave is moving over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Jessore and Chuadanga districts and may continue. Day and night temperatures will remain mostly unchanged across the country.

On Thursday (June 6), most places of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, some places of Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and two places each of Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions may experience light to moderate rain/thunder with gusty winds temporarily. Along with this, there may be moderate to very heavy rainfall at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.

Light to moderate rain/thunder with gusty winds may occur at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and two places each in Dhaka Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions on Friday (June 7). Along with this, there may be moderate to very heavy rainfall at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Rain trend may continue in northern parts of the country during extended five-day weather.

Meanwhile, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at Chuadanga on Tuesday at 36.7 degrees Celsius. The maximum rainfall was 198 mm in Sandwip.
