9 in jail including upazila chairman in murder case in Munshiganj

The court sent 9 people including the newly elected Chairman of Tongibari Upazila Ariful Islam Halder to jail in the case of murder of former Jubo League leader in Munshiganj.

On Wednesday (June 5) around 11:00 am, after the bail period of the High Court in this case, when they appeared in the Munshiganj District and Sessions Judge Court and applied for bail through their lawyer, after the hearing, the judge of the court, Kazi Abdul Hannan, refused the bail and ordered them to be sent to jail.

Other accused in the case include Ariful's younger brother Lutfar Rahman Halder, Chairman of Kamarkhara Union Parishad of Upazila and Kabir Halder, General Secretary of Tongibari Upazila Awami League.

Confirming the matter, Munshiganj court police in-charge Jamal Uddin said that the learned court denied them bail and ordered them to be sent to jail. According to the instructions, the process of sending them to jail is underway.

Incidentally, on April 8, a former Jubo League leader named Sohrab Khan (65) was hacked to death in a clash between two sides in front of Dighirpar police outpost due to an earlier dispute in Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj. The deceased's son Johnny Khan was seriously injured in that incident. The deceased Sohrab Dighirpar Union Jubo League former president.

As the local police station did not accept the case in this incident, on April 15, Abdul Mannan Khan, the elder brother of the victim, filed a murder case in Munshiganj Tongibari Amli Court, accusing 12 people including Arifur Rahman Haldar as the plaintiff. Following the application, the court judge ordered the case to be reported to the concerned police station.
