Torture of Yabi Prabi students all night: Case against 8 people including Chhatra League president

A student named Shahreen Rahman Praloy (24) has been accused of torture throughout the night in Jessore University of Science and Technology (JSIT) residential hall. In this incident, a case has been filed against eight BCL leaders and activists, making Sohel Rana the main accused.

Last Thursday (June 6) night, the victim student Shahreen filed the case at Jessore Kotwali Model Police Station. Jessore Additional Superintendent of Police Jewel Imran confirmed this information.

The other accused in the case are Isad Hossain, Shahinur Islam, Aminul Islam, Vipul Hasan, Ashikuzzaman Limon, students of PESS department, Belal Hossain of Finance and Banking department and Raihan Rahman Rabbi of Physics department.

According to the source of the complaint, last Monday (June 3) the accused broke their heads due to a quarrel. Shahreen Rahman, a fourth year student of Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) department, filed a written complaint with the proctor of the university in this incident. After making a complaint, he was brutally beaten by BCL leaders and activists in the room (No. 306) of Branch BCL President Sohel Rana in the residential hall. At that time, he was ordered to leave the hall and threatened to be shot dead if he did not withdraw the complaint.

Vice-Chancellor of the university who was beaten overnight. Md. Anwar filed another written complaint with Hossain. In view of the written complaint, the university administration has already formed a four-member investigation committee. The inquiry committee has been asked to submit its report within 72 hours.

Jessore Additional Superintendent of Police Jewel Imran said that the victim student Shahreen came to Jessore Kotwali police station and lodged a written complaint. In view of this, a regular case has been registered. Our operation to arrest the accused is ongoing. Hope the accused will be caught soon.
