Ronaldo surpassed the legendary Pele

Age is just a number to Ronaldo. The Portuguese star proved it again. He reached another milestone before taking the field in the Euros. He surpassed the legendary Pele of Brazil with a unique feat. Portugal prepares for the Euros with a brilliant day for the team's best star.

Portugal defeated the Republic of Ireland 3-0 in a friendly match on Tuesday (June 11) night. Ronaldo scored a pair of goals after Joao Felix led the team in the match. The 39-year-old star surpassed Pele in these two goals.

In the 18th minute of the match, Felix received a pass from the right side of Bruno Fernandes in the box and took a Konakuni shot. Then in the 50th minute, Ronaldo doubled the gap with a wonderful goal. He touched Pele.

With this goal, Ronaldo became the first player in the history of international football to score 21 consecutive goals for the national team. Made his debut for the Portugal first team in 2003, scored his first goal the following year, scoring every year since.

Ronaldo made the scoreline 3-0 with another great goal after 10 minutes. The five-time footballer of the year scored the goal with a left-footed shot after receiving Diogo Zatar's pass from the left side in the box. He surpassed Pele with this goal.

Pele scored 77 goals for Brazil in his entire career, one more than Ronaldo (78). In total, his career goals are 895.

This year's Euro will open in Germany next Friday. Portugal will start their campaign to regain the title with a match against the Czech Republic on June 19. Their other two opponents in Group 'D' are Türkiye and Georgia.
