At the Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan, Sheldon Creed etched his name into the NASCAR Xfinity Series record books, albeit under less than desirable circumstances. Creed secured his 11th runner-up finish in the series, setting a new record for the most second-place finishes without a win.

The race itself was a rollercoaster for Creed, who started in pole position but faced early challenges, including a spin that sent him to the back of the pack. However, Creed clawed his way back into contention. Unfortunately, a late-race caution flag with just half a lap remaining sealed his fate, preventing him from challenging the eventual winner, Justin Allgaier, for the top spot. Allgaier’s triumph marked his second victory in the 2024 season.

Looking ahead, Creed’s prospects remain a mixed bag. His consistent performance and the competitive cars provided by his team, Joe Gibbs Racing, suggest a breakthrough could be imminent. Yet, every race that ends with Creed as the runner-up heightens the pressure on him to clinch that elusive first victory.

This comes after Haas Factory Team confirmed that Creed has signed for the team in 2025 and will drive alongside Sam Mayer. Commenting on his upcoming move, Creed commented, as quoted by NBC:

“I think there is a lot that goes into a decision like this. Obviously, angle is Cup. So what is Haas tied to? Where is it going? They have an alliance with RFK (Racing) moving forward. And I think for me, it was a multi-year contract going forward, where can I grow more in Xfinity, where can I win races? Haas Factory Team seemed to be a good place for me.”
