West Indies T20 squad resting Russell-Holder

It is impossible for West Indies to enter the T20 without Andre Russell. But that's what happened this time. Andre Russell has been rested for the T20 series against South Africa. Along with that, Jason Holder and pacer Aljari Joseph have been rested.

Cricket West Indies announced a 15-member squad on Sunday (August 18) ahead of the three-match series. At the time of the team announcement, the board's director of cricket, Miles Bascombe, said that Russell had requested a rest from the series.

Apart from Russell, Holder and Joseph, there is no opener batsman Brandon King in the team. He was knocked out due to injury. Shimron Hetmyer, who did not get a chance to play a single match in the World Cup, retained his place. He last played for the national team in this edition in December last year.

The T20 series will start next Friday. All three matches will be played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

West Indies T20 Team: Rovman Powell (captain), Roston Chase (vice-captain), Alik Athanez, Fabian Allen, Johnson Charles, Matthew Ford, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Akil Hussain, Shamar Joseph, Obed McCoy, Gudakesh Moti, Nicholas Pooran, Sherfan Rutherford, Romario Shepherd.
