The main gate of Khulna University is now 'Shaheed Mir Mocha Toran'.

The students of Khulna University named the main gate as 'Shaheed Mir Mochad Toran'. Mir Mahfuzur Rahman was martyred by the police of the anti-discrimination student movement. The students and teachers of the university have demanded to name the main gate of Khulna University as Shahid Mir Mochad Toran after the martyrdom of Mir Mochad.

In the light of this proposal, yesterday Saturday (August 17) at 3 o'clock in the afternoon in front of the main gate of the university, a pen written on Shahid Mir Mochad Toran was drawn. Current and former students of the university were present.

Mir Mahfuzur Rahman, a student who recently graduated from Khulna University's mathematics discipline, was martyred by the police of the anti-discrimination student movement in Dhaka's Uttara on July 18. Hence this name is proposed for his memory. Mahfuzur Rahman's house is in Dhaka's Uttara. He was a 19th batch student of Mathematics Department in Khulna University. He was then a Masters student at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in Dhaka.

The classmates said that they will strongly demand the university administration to take a principled decision to rename the main gate of Khulna University after Shaheed Mir Mocha Toran.
