Demonstration demanding the resignation of Sreepur Municipal Mayor

Conscious citizens of Sreepur Municipality staged a protest march and human chain to demand the resignation of Mayor of Sreepur Municipality of Gazipur and former organizing secretary of Gazipur District Awami League Anichur Rahman.

Today, Monday (August 19) at 11:30 am, they formed a human chain in front of the Sreepur Municipal Office under the banner of conscious citizens.

The speakers said that in the last 20 years, the municipal mayor Anichur Rahman has been running the municipality like a dictatorship through corruption and irregularities, looting and tendering. They said that if there is any corruption within the party, they will not be exempted.

Undesigned drainage system, accumulation of garbage, holding tax, birth-death certificate, water supply, taking bribes from various industries and issuing trade licenses have made the municipality known as a corruption arena to the citizens.

Under the supervision of Paur Jubodal leader Salim Ahmed, Gazipur District BNP Co-Agriculture Secretary Sharif Siddiqui, Sreepur Municipal BNP Vice-President Billal Hossain, Joint Secretary Tipu Sultan, Ward No. 3 BNP President Abdul Baten, Ward No. 2 BNP General Secretary Imran Hossain spoke at the rally. , former president of Sreepur Municipal Chhatra Dal Anwar Hossain, senior joint convener of Sreepur Upazila Jubo Dal Sohel Fakir, leader of Upazila Jubo Dal Rajeev Hossain etc.

Sreepur Municipality Mayor Anishur Rahman's mobile phone was switched off so it was not possible to take his statement on these issues.
