Decision to withdraw all District Commissioners

This time, the interim government has decided to withdraw all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of the country. It is known that they will be withdrawn by Tuesday (August 20). After that new appointment will be made. This information is known from related sources.

Cabinet Secretary Md. on this issue on Monday (August 19) night. A meeting was held in Mahbub Hossain's room.

Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Senior Secretary of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs attended the meeting. Mohammad Abdul Momen, Finance Secretary Dr. Khayeruzzaman Majumdar along with several members of SSB.

According to sources, the help of five officials who were deprived during the previous government will be taken in the issue of DC appointment. They are – Nurjahan Khanam and Nazrul Islam of BCS 24th batch, Nurul Karim Bhuiya and Farida Khanam of 25th batch and Sarwar Alam of 27th batch.

It is learned that many DCOs have expressed their reluctance to perform their duties in the circumstances that have arisen. They have already spoken to the senior officials to take it back from the field administration. It has been decided to withdraw all the district commissioners.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in the student movement on August 5, appointments are being cancelled, new appointments and transfers are being made at various levels of administration.

On the other hand, contractual appointment of 11 secretaries and secretaries rank officers of various ministries, departments and organizations were also cancelled. A notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on the afternoon of the same day canceling their contractual appointment.

Then there were more notifications of cancellations, new appointments and transfers. It is said that it will continue in the future.

Earlier, 876 representatives were removed by the local government department. Among them there are 60 Zilla Parishad Chairman, 493 Upazila Chairman and 323 Municipal Mayors.

Apart from this, the government has issued a notification removing 988 upazila parishad vice chairman and female vice chairman.

The Local Government Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives issued this notification.

It is stated in the notification, hereby, by applying Section 10 of the Upazila Parishad (Amendment) Ordinance, 1024, all the vice chairmen and all female vice chairmen of the Upazila Parishad have been removed from the respective posts of the Upazila Parishad.
