Former President Donald Trump’s campaign claimed on Monday that “Squad” Congresswoman Ilhan Omar showed that she was not “happy” to support Vice President Kamala Harris at this year’s Democratic National Convention (DNC).

Omar and thousands of other Democrats packed into Chicago’s United Center to take part in the first night of the DNC on Monday. The congresswoman appeared to be distracted at one point while Representative Jasmine Crockett, a fellow progressive, compared Harris to Trump during a call-and-answer session with the crowd.

“America, looking at the two choices before you, who would you hire? Donald Trump?” Crockett asked, drawing a wave of boos from the crowd. Large cheers then erupted after “Kamala Harris” was presented as an alternative hire.

In a video feed, Omar was shown in the crowd just after Crockett said “Harris.” Instead of cheering with many in the crowd, she was displaying a distracted look with an open mouth. Although Omar did not appear to be displeased, the Trump campaign and several Trump supporters claimed that the video was evidence that she was unhappy with Harris.

“Ilhan Omar does NOT look happy to be supporting Kamala—we don’t blame her!” the Trump War Room account wrote while sharing a short clip of the moment on X, formerly Twitter.

Newsweek reached out for comment to Omar’s office via email on Monday night.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
